Western blacklegged tick: Established along the Pacific Coast and the principal western tick associated with Lyme disease transmission.
Pacific Coast tick: Occurs in parts of the coastal West and can bite people.
American dog tick / D. similis: CDC distinguishes western D. similis from D. variabilis found mainly east of the Rockies.
